Peak Music and Dance

Competition Dance Team

Looking for a competition team that challenges dancers while truly supporting them?

Our dance programs are designed for:

At Peak Music and Dance, our competitive team is built for dancers who are ready to commit to their training and be part of a focused, supportive, and inclusive community.

Dancers train consistently through technique classes, rehearsals, and conditioning, developing strong fundamentals, control, and performance ability over time.

Our team culture is rooted in care, respect, and growth. We do not believe in favoritism. Every dancer is supported, challenged, and given the opportunity to progress.

Families should expect a meaningful commitment, including regular classes, rehearsals, and participation in competitions throughout the year.

We also place a strong emphasis on dancer health, including proper technique, conditioning, and injury prevention, so students can train safely and sustainably.

Dancers have opportunities to perform beyond competitions, including collaborative performances with the Peak Music and Dance Music Department and participation in larger studio productions.

For advanced dancers, there are additional opportunities to be part of Dark Ballet, a performance group that brings together dance and live music in a unique and dynamic way.

Who's it for...

Our Competition Dance Team is designed for:

  • Dancers who are ready to commit to consistent training and take their development seriouslty.
  • Students who thrive in an inclusive, supportive, team-based environment and want to grow alongside other dedicated dancers

  • Dancers who are interested in performing and competing as part of a structured program

  • Families who understand and are prepared for the time and commitment involved in competition dance

Some dancers come in with prior experience, while others are ready to take the next step in their training. What matters most is a willingness to show up, work consistently, and be part of the team.

How Training Works

At Peak, dancers train within a clear and structured system that supports consistent progress.

Each class is designed to develop the skills that support strong dancing, including alignment, balance, strength, coordination, and musical timing.

Dancers are not just learning routines. They are learning how to move with control, how to retain corrections, and how to apply what they learn from one class to the next.

Classes are active and focused, with students participating throughout rather than waiting on the sidelines. Expectations are clear, and progress builds over time within a supportive and encouraging environment.

We work with a wide range of students and adjust our approach to support different learning styles, experience levels, and goals.

What Dancers Gain

Dancers in our competition program gain more than technical skill.

  • Strong coordination, control, and a solid technical foundation
  • Increased confidence, stage presence, and comfort performing
  • The ability to work as part of a committed, supportive team
  • Discipline, consistency, and a deeper understanding of their training

They also gain meaningful performance experience over time, learning how to prepare, perform, and grow through real opportunities.

For many dancers, this leads to growth not only in their training, but in how they carry themselves both on and off the stage.

Performance is part of the process

Performance

At Peak, performance is a central and ongoing part of the competitive experience.

Dancers participate in multiple competitions throughout the year, along with studio performances and larger productions.

They also perform in collaborative work with the music department, creating a more dynamic and immersive performance experience than traditional dance programs.

For advanced dancers, there is a pathway into Dark Ballet, where dancers perform alongside live musicians as part of a high-level, integrated production environment.

These experiences help dancers build confidence, develop stage presence, and understand what it means to perform with consistency and purpose.

Integrated Music & Dance Programs

Some dancers choose to expand their training through our integrated music and dance programs, where dancers and musicians train and perform together in shared classes.

These classes are co-taught by both dance faculty and professional music instructors, giving students the experience of working across disciplines while developing timing, coordination, and performance awareness.

Programs such as Sing and Dance Like a Broadway Star bring dancers into a more complete performance environment, where movement and music are developed together rather than separately.

These experiences allow students to grow as performers while working as part of a collaborative production.
